The Lampifier® processor inside this Model 711 microphone is programmed for a vocalist or acoustic instrument in a live setting with low to moderate stage volume. This program is called the "Intimate Stage" program because it is typically used in small venues (like restaurants and clubs) or in low volume applications like religious services and private parties. In a low volume live setting this program can deliver recording-studio sound quality. Home recording and broadcast are also excellent applications for this program. This microphone is a favorite for Beat Boxing, Podcasting, Broadcasting, and Voice-Overs.

The program has high compression, low noise gating threshold, and low output. The compressor acts to give significant boost to low volume passages and controls harsh plosives as well as evens out strident tones. Go from a whisper to a shout with ease, without losing the listener! This microphone is highly recommended for church music services, blue grass festivals, restaurants, parties, and smaller night clubs. 711LA Program Labels are available for this standard program.

About the PolyVox 711 Lampifier Microphone

The PolyVox 711 Lampifier microphone is a unidirectional cardioid dynamic microphone for professional sound reinforcement or recording. Applications include vocal or instrument performance, live speaking, ensembles, choir, and repertory theater. A phantom-powered sound processor is located inside the microphone’s handle. The processor is programmable and improves sound quality for a wide variety of applications. Total system cost is dramatically reduced by including the audio processor internally. No extra patch cables or outboard sound processors are required. The audio processor inside the microphone is pre-programmed for the user’s application to deliver a polished, professional sound right out of the box. The processor self-adjusts to the incoming sound, making program adjustments by the user generally unnecessary. The user also can reprogram the processor to use the microphone in different applications or customize it for the user's personal style or preference. Reprogramming is done with the help of a free Online Programming Tool.

The frequency response and cardioid pickup pattern are tailored for accurate sound reproduction with a balance of high fidelity and feedback rejection. The 711 microphone has a flatter midrange response and a slightly accentuated bass response. As a result, the 711 is most often used in low to moderate volume environments or where the sound source is 6 inches (150mm) or more from the microphone. The proximity effect of directional microphones typically causes a loss of bass response as distance increases from the sound source. When the 711 is used with a distant sound sources (for example, a voice at 12 inches away or more) it provides a natural, rich bass response due to it's slightly emphasized low-end amplitude response. The 711 tends to “thin out” less quickly with increasing distance than other directional microphones. For close mic’ing applications, on the other hand, the 711 microphone has an accentuated and powerful bass response. (Note that the PremoVox 111 is recommended for closer mic’ing, but this is only a general guideline. Either microphone can be used for close or distant applications. Here we are discussing preferred uses.) A rugged construction ensures that the PolyVox 711 will perform consistently and reliably. Includes microphone with preprogrammed sound processor, microphone carrying bag, user guide, programming guide, and six extra shunts for programming.

The PolyVox 711 has a special o-ring installed between the ball grill and the body. If the ball grill is removed, the o-ring must be removed to put the ball grill back on. It's easy to do. Here are the instructions for reinstalling the PolyVox 711 ball grill and the o-ring.
